It is a core part of our purpose and history to lower barriers to entry and enable local companies, not-for-profits, organisations, and events to compete online. One of the ways we do this is by supporting and sponsoring local events, like the recent Surfest Womens Pro and Legends Expression Session. We believe our responsibility goes beyond simply providing excellent digital services to our clients. Rather, it extends to actively participating in, and contributing to, the growth of the community we serve.

Supporting local businesses and events is part of our creation story. We started building websites for local businesses back in the late 1990s, in the early days of the Internet. Websites were very, very expensive, relative to today’s terms, so we saw the need to enable local organisations to compete online and therefore developed a more affordable service. We have carried this local commitment to Newcastle and the Hunter region throughout our business lifetime, so when an opportunity arises to extend this support to local events, we jump at it, particularly when there are other areas of alignment regarding our passions and interests.

The Surfest Women’s Pro is a world-class surfing competition that attracts some of the best female surfers from around the globe. For the last seven years, it has been made possible via a Crowd Funding initiative. Over 90 businesses supported the Speaking in Colour Women’s Pro this year. HyperWeb has been a “Crowdie” for the past five years. This year, a world-first special event was included to the lineup. The Surfest Legends Expression Session allowed four businesses to be part of a unique feature event which brought four legendary women surfers from the 80s and 90s to Newcastle to surf in a feature event and be part of the Surfest festival. Our financial contribution, along with PowerEarth, Property Solutions 101, and Austedan Fabrications enabled Pam Burridge, Pauline Menczer, Jodie Cooper, and Rebecca Woods to turn back the clock in a one-off expression session heat.

The Legends Expression Session heat was a lot of fun, and we thank all of our business friends that came along to support us and the event as we established a presence on the beach in a family-friendly afternoon celebrating women’s sport. It also doesn’t hurt that our MD Brendan is a long-time surf fan and wanna-be surfer whose interests began when these legends were breaking new ground in professional women’s surfing.

Supporting local events means supporting local businesses as events like these bring visitation and economic input to our local businesses. By being an active community member and supporting events like the Surfest Women’s Pro and Legends Expression Session, we can build relationships with other local businesses and the people who live and work in Newcastle. This helps us to understand the needs of our clients better and to provide them with more effective website development and digital marketing services.

In addition to supporting events like the Surfest Women’s Pro and Legends Expression Session, we also support a range of local not-for-profit and sporting clubs such as Soul Cafe, Got Your Back Sista, Warners Bay AFL, and Bay Area Boardriders. We understand the challenges organisations and small businesses face and are committed to helping them grow and succeed. Whether it’s by providing web design and development services or digital marketing support, we are here to help. We encourage other businesses to get involved in their communities and to help promote their local area. Together, we can help to build strong and vibrant communities that benefit everyone.

In 2017, we began our support of Zara’s House with sponsored website development and hosting. Zara’s House provides literacy, language, peer support, and employment assistance to refugee women in our community. We chose to support this organisation and their activities due to their strong aims and the energy and passion of the people behind it, led by 2017 Newcastle Citizen of the Year Sister Di Santleben.

Our support included the provision of advice on their online presence and the development of a Zara’s House website that is both clear in it’s purpose and simple in it’s user experience. It pleases us that we were able to assist Zara’s House and their parent organisation Refugees and Partners with their clarity of message. They now have an online presence from which to market themselves and leverage for events and fundraising.

Zara’s House is now facing another challenge. They are looking for a new home from which to provide their important services. They have been using a derelict church on a hire basis, but it is now for sale. They are looking to raise $100,000 in order to purchase this premises as an accessible base for their work and the refugee community.

To help Zara’s House achieve their target, please visit their Chuffed page and make a tax deductible donation. Any amount helps.

We have been given the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of the Newcastle Music Festival with our website development services for 2016.

The Festival is the first of its kind and will be held in city venues from Thursday 11 August to Sunday 21 August.

With a packed program of some 21 concerts, master classes, recitals and a classical quiz show (think a classical Spicks & Specks), the festival promises a treat for all music lovers.

The festival is the brain child of locals Ross Fiddes and David Banney, who are joint artistic directors heading an enthusiastic committee of volunteers with a background in events and music.

Our role is to give festival website www.newcastlemusicfestival.org a facelift. The site has information about all performances and ticket sales, and features the artists and schedule or performances strongly. Take a look at the site and check out the many performances and internationally acclaimed performers coming to Newcastle.

It’s been a good 9 months since we made the decision to move out of our home base, into an office, and take on an employee. The wheels of progress can sometimes turn slowly. The theory being, if we could find someone who can pick on my current website development load, that would free me up to work on the business rather than in it. It would free me up to do some marketing, business development, and internal innovations we have on the simmer.

Introducing Jessica Moulton. Jessica joined us 3 weeks ago, and has taken on the role of Digital Developer, working on most of our current client websites as well as our Digital Marketing clients work as well. Jessica has already impressed with her design skills, her efficiency and speed, and how well she fits in with us. Jessica makes us a potent team.

Jessica’s significant creativity and experience with website development, marketing, and design from a range of industries and markets including manufacturing, construction, mining, professional services, retail, and tourism. Jessica is a welcome addition to the growing HyperWeb team who have also recently moved into office premises in Newcastle West.

In addition to our external graphic design partners in the Hunter Region, Jessica’s talents contributes greatly to our improved offering of a compelling combination of design focus, usability and technical focus, and business strategy focus, in our website development, mobile applications, and digital marketing. Our capacity has now almost doubled, so we can not only complete projects faster, but can take on more, so if you are looking at having a website refresh, new build, or would like to talk about your digital marketing requirements, get in touch & we look forward to meeting with you to share ideas and design a solution.

Meet Jessica:

Cuisine that thrills you? :”All things Japanese”

Music that focusses you? “Depends what day of the week it is, Monday maybe Angus & Julia Stone, Friday some Miike Snow or Macklemore. ”

Movie that drives you? “Pretty in Pink – ok maybe it doesn’t drive me but if anything teaches you to go with your own flow and own it its that movie – or maybe I’m a sucker for cheesy 80’s movies.”

How’s your coffee? “Long Black”

Dream client project? “Anything branding or Newcastle. Both bring the opportunity to showcase something I love and present it to the world with simplistic and elegant design. ”
