HyperWeb Supports Local Events: Surfest Womens Pro and Legends Expression Session

News

HyperWeb is a proud supporter of local events and businesses. It is a core part of our purpose and history to lower barriers to entry and enable local companies, not-for-profits, organisations, and events to compete online. One of the ways we do this is by supporting and sponsoring local events, like the recent Surfest Womens Pro and Legends Expression Session. We believe our responsibility goes beyond simply providing excellent digital services to our clients. Rather, it extends to actively participating in, and contributing to, the growth of the community we serve.

Supporting local businesses and events is part of our creation story. We started building websites for local businesses back in the late 1990s, in the early days of the Internet. Websites were very, very expensive, relative to today’s terms, so we saw the need to enable local organisations to compete online and therefore developed a more affordable service. We have carried this local commitment to Newcastle and the Hunter region throughout our business lifetime, so when an opportunity arises to extend this support to local events, we jump at it, particularly when there are other areas of alignment regarding our passions and interests.

The Surfest Women’s Pro is a world-class surfing competition that attracts some of the best female surfers from around the globe. For the last seven years, it has been made possible via a Crowd Funding initiative. Over 90 businesses supported the Speaking in Colour Women’s Pro this year. HyperWeb has been a “Crowdie” for the past five years. This year, a world-first special event was included to the lineup. The Surfest Legends Expression Session allowed four businesses to be part of a unique feature event which brought four legendary women surfers from the 80s and 90s to Newcastle to surf in a feature event and be part of the Surfest festival. Our financial contribution, along with PowerEarth, Property Solutions 101, and Austedan Fabrications enabled Pam Burridge, Pauline Menczer, Jodie Cooper, and Rebecca Woods to turn back the clock in a one-off expression session heat.

The Legends Expression Session heat was a lot of fun, and we thank all of our business friends that came along to support us and the event as we established a presence on the beach in a family-friendly afternoon celebrating women’s sport. It also doesn’t hurt that our MD Brendan is a long-time surf fan and wanna-be surfer whose interests began when these legends were breaking new ground in professional women’s surfing.

Supporting local events means supporting local businesses as events like these bring visitation and economic input to our local businesses. By being an active community member and supporting events like the Surfest Women’s Pro and Legends Expression Session, we can build relationships with other local businesses and the people who live and work in Newcastle. This helps us to understand the needs of our clients better and to provide them with more effective website development and digital marketing services.

In addition to supporting events like the Surfest Women’s Pro and Legends Expression Session, we also support a range of local not-for-profit and sporting clubs such as Soul Cafe, Got Your Back Sista, Warners Bay AFL, and Bay Area Boardriders. We understand the challenges organisations and small businesses face and are committed to helping them grow and succeed. Whether it’s by providing web design and development services or digital marketing support, we are here to help. We encourage other businesses to get involved in their communities and to help promote their local area. Together, we can help to build strong and vibrant communities that benefit everyone.
