You can soon register your business name for .au

News
[Update 7 September]

From 24 March 2022, .au direct domain names were made be available. For example, we were able to register hyperweb.au (without the .com).

If your business name is already registered to .com.au, .net.au or .org.au you will be given priority to register the same name to .au within the first 6 months. This period ends on September 20th.

Why is .au direct being introduced?

This will bring Australia in line with many other countries and deliver a wider choice of available names in the Australian domain.

Why should you apply for a .au domain?

– It will protect your brand from someone else using your name with the new .au if you already own the .com.au, .net.au or .org.au
– It will help your Google ranking for local search
– It is shorter and takes up less space

auDA CEO Rosemary Sinclair AM said, “.au direct will provide greater choice of shorter, simpler and uniquely Australian domain names and email addresses for Australian individuals, businesses and organisations as they build their digital presence.”

Will my existing domain be impacted?

No, your existing domain will continue existing as is.

How do I apply?
